Welcome to the new NCM site! The old boards were being attacked by hackers and the version of the software was outdated and not supported by the developers any longer. Therefore the officers decided to upgrade the boards to the most recent version of the software. The board software itself does not include the front page with raid news, recruitment needs, unread posts etc. That part is based on some other software - which is not very user friendly. We decided to change this "front page" into a CMS system, based on a core called "Joomla". Joomla is a very stable and secure environment and opens the door to a lot of customizable abilities for our pleasure.

A little history:
The whole "Joomla" idea started about a year ago. Based on the fact that useful information on our boards is scattered all over the place and often hard to find, Memorie and I decided to start working on a Joomla solution. I have spent a lot of time since then on developing a new NCM site and I almost got it done in november 2008. But then real life caught up with me and the project was put on ice.

The present situation:
We have developed a core system for now, with the most basic functionality. The boards have been migrated into the newest version and all users have to log in through the boards. Memorie will be working on templates for both the joomla site and the boards. I will mostly be working on implementing functionality to both systems.

What to expect in near future:
Here is a list of what I expect will be implemented in near future

• A FAQ section with Q&A, guides, tips & tricks
• User synchronization between Joomla and the boards so users can log into Joomla as well
• A joomla module showing the current users DKP
• A Roster with pop-up windows to magelo profiles
• Modules showing latest posts from the boards
• Modules showing useful links
• A raid calendar module showing upcomming events
• A chat function, for members to chat when servers are down etc.
• Application forms integrated into the boards
• and more...
